Irregular sound waves gives rise to noise. For example, the sound produced by the horn of a car is one such example of irregular sound. The sound produced by soothing music is an example of regular sounds. Therefore, the frequency of the sound differ depending on the type of sound.

Sound takes place due to vibration. The pitch of the sound depends on the vibration. If the Frequency of the vibrations are slow, it creates a low pitch. But if the frequency of the vibrations are high, it creates a high pitch.

The sound is produced by the vibration of the air. It typically happens when a person blows air into the instrument. Take for instance, flute and trumpet. The air produced move back and forth creating sound waves. This is how wind instruments produce sound.

Guitar and violin are examples of string instruments. We apply a lot of pressure while playing the string instrument. It is played by pressing the fingers down on the strings. As a result, there is a change in the length of the string. The pressure applied causes the string to vibrate at different frequencies and hence produce different sound.

It is known that sound moves at a much faster pace in the water than in the air. Sound travels four times faster in water than in the air. It is supposed that water covers long distances by travelling much faster. Whales sense each other even when they are hundred miles apart.

Robert Boyle was the first person to discover the medium of the sound. His experiment with the clock proved famous worldwide. He put the ringing clock inside the jar in order to suck the air while the clock was still ringing.
