Xiaomi redmi Note 5 pro review

Xiaomi has been very aggressive in the budget and mid-range market. It has been dominating the Indian market for so long. In fact, it has overtaken the sales of Samsung and other budget devices like Moto. Xiaomi’s Redmi segment recently introduced its budget killer Note 5 pro in 15K range. This device is completely dominating this superior build and specifications. They are just selling like hotcakes from the ecommerce website of Flipkart. So here’s the review of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro.

Coming to design the devices you a solid metal construction with finger print sensor in the back. It feels nice and robust in hands. As the bezels are too small the device doesn’t feels too big. In fact, it feels better the devices with 5.5 inch display (Redmi Note 3). One hand operation won’t be a big issue if you got big hands. Furthermore, it is a very slim device which means you need to add an additional cover to make it fit in your palm. The thing which we didn’t like is the protruding camera bump in the back which could get damaged easily if you don’t use a cover in your phone.

This is the major selling point of this device. Above all, the device has a dual camera setup in the back with a 12 MP and a 5MP sensor with f 2.2 aperture. The photos taken by the rear camera are outstanding for the price point. It gives you the real portrait mode for the pictures. The front camera is equipped with a 20 MP Sony sensor which gives you stunning selfies. However, lowlight photography can disappoint you a bit as the aperture is quite high.

The screen is a 5.8 inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It is quite decent for a panel with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The screen is quite bright and displays all the colors properly. Unlike AMOLED panels colors are more accurate. However, AMOLED looks more soothing to the eye.

Core specs

The device is equipped with Snapdragon 636 Octa-core processor. Above all, it gives awesome snappy performance in handling day to day tasks quite easily. You can play all the high-end games with the power of Aderno 509 GPU. In fact, you will be able to play the majority of the games in medium to high setting at decent frame rates. Games like PUBG are breeze to play on this device. For multitasking you get 4 GB of DDR4 RAM. As a result, you get the perfect multitasking environment to use multiple apps at once.

The Redmi Note 5 pro is equipped with a 4000 mah battery. This combination quite adequate to give good battery backup. You can use the device for 2 days on a single charge. However, things may change when you tend to game for longer durations. The devices may heat up and lower down the performance in extreme temperatures. Finally, you also get fast charging support with Redmi Note 5 pro. But the retail package doesn’t supplies any fast charger in the packaging.
